4 Tips for Finding top Dollar Store Suppliers
If you own a dollar store you know it’s easy to fall into the trap of sticking with the same dollar store suppliers even as their pricing on dollar store merchandise or term of service changes. You know the people and the processes they follow. It’s easier to stay put, rather than locating better suppliers for your business. On top of that, you really don’t know what suppliers are out there, and how to locate them. The long term success of your business requires the investment of time and energy to always be aware of the many suppliers available to your business. In this article I provide 4 tips for finding those hidden product supplier gems for your business.
Tip #1) Start with a quick computer search. Let your computer do the work for you. Vary the search terms you use to create list after long list of prospective suppliers for your business. Quickly check the website of the companies on your list. Look at the dollar store merchandise they carry and the pricing. If you are interested, speak with a company representative to gather more data. If you remain impressed, always ask for and check references.
Tip #2) Schedule yourself to attend at least one major trade show per year. If you own a dollar store the scheduling can be done right up to the start of the show. However, if you are preparing to open a new store be sure to schedule the trade show about 2 months prior to your grand opening. Don’t buy anything unless you have a signed lease. While at the trade show be sure to ask about show specials and closeouts on dollar store merchandise to get even better pricing.
Tip #3) Check the Yellow Pages for local suppliers. Check the Yellow Pages of major commerce centers for even more potential ideas. Be sure to visit local dollar store suppliers in-person. Examine their facilities, merchandise and pricing. While you are there be sure to ask about other companies.
